Street Kids Direct is very proud to anounce the launch of their new mentoring programme for high-risk children and youth!
The mentoring programme has been developed by Duncan Dyason who spent 3 years reading and researching into mentoring and how the developemnt of a specialist programme that targets the most vulnerable young people can impact their lives and help prevent them becoming street-living young people.
In Guatemala, volunteer mentors are already making a difference in the lives of many children and young people from the age of 8. One of the boys in the programme has made such dramatic progress that we were invited into his school to explain how the programme works. Another boy has been through severe abuse but has really opened up to his new mentor who he now considers to be his big brother.
We hope to launch the Street Kids Direct mentoring programme in the UK in 2016 and are looking for partners wanting to setup and run their own mentoring programme and would be interested in having a look at the materials.
Furthermore, we are planning to launch a mentoring app in 2016, which will help mentors keep a track of their mentoring sessions as well as provide them with the resources, tools and games for use with their mentor.
