1. Introduction Street Kids Direct ("SKD", "we", "us", or "our") is a UK-registered charity (No. 1102894) committed to reaching street-living children worldwide. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information gathered through the SKD Field Evaluation Tool app ("the App"), which our street team uses to document the presence of street-living children and the organisations working with them around the world. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Who We Are Street Kids Direct is a partner-based charity registered in England and Wales. Our mission is to rescue street-living children and prevent at-risk children from living on the streets worldwide. Contact: [email protected] Website: www.streetkidsdirect.org.uk
3. What Information We Collect The App collects the following information entered by our street team members during field evaluations: Survey and Field Data • Country and city being evaluated • Date of the survey • Name and organisation of the interviewer • Name and role of the person being interviewed • Sector of the respondent (e.g. NGO, Government, Church) • Information about street-living children in the area, including estimated numbers, age ranges, and risk factors • Details of organisations working with street-living children • Location names and hotspot information • Notes and observations from the field Technical Data The App stores data locally on the device using the browser's localStorage. When an internet connection is available, survey data is transmitted to a private Google Sheet managed by Street Kids Direct for analysis and reporting purposes. We do not collect personal data about app users (street team members) beyond what they voluntarily enter into the survey form.
4. How We Use the Information The information collected through the App is used solely for the following purposes: • To map the locations of street-living children around the world • To identify organisations and institutions working with street-living children • To inform SKD's global strategy for reaching street-living children • To produce aggregated, anonymised summary statistics for public reporting (e.g. the Results screen in the App) • To share findings with partner organisations and stakeholders to improve coordinated responses We do not use the data for commercial purposes, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to our charitable mission.
5. Data Sharing We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data to third parties. Survey data may be shared in the following limited circumstances: • With SKD partner organisations involved in street child work in the relevant country, in aggregated or anonymised form • With Google, as a data processor, through Google Sheets and Google Apps Script, which we use to store and process survey responses. Google's privacy policy applies to their services: policies.google.com/privacy • With relevant authorities if required by law. Any public-facing results shown in the App's Results screen display only aggregated statistics and do not identify individual respondents.
6. Data Storage and Security: Survey data is stored in two places: • On the device: Data is stored in the browser's localStorage until it is synced or the browser data is cleared. This storage is local to the device and not accessible by SKD unless synced. • In Google Sheets: Once synced, data is stored in a private Google Sheet accessible only to authorised SKD staff. We take reasonable steps to protect survey data, including restricting access to our Google Sheet to authorised personnel only. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention We retain survey data for as long as it is needed to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Data that is no longer needed will be securely deleted.
