MAKING A GLOBE & RAISING FUNDS

At Street Kids Direct, we are constantly amazed by the creativity and generosity of people who choose to stand alongside some of the world’s most vulnerable children. This week, that encouragement came from the wonderful pupils and staff at Burchetts Green Infant School.

As part of their World Culture Day celebrations, the children were invited to bring in loose change, which they then used to create a giant globe on the school playground. It was a simple but powerful reminder that we all share one world and that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a global impact.

Thanks to the children’s enthusiasm and the support of the school community and PTA, an incredible £139.90 was raised for Street Kids Direct.

The idea of building a globe from coins feels especially fitting for our work. Every day, we seek to support street-living and at-risk children in Guatemala and Honduras, helping them access education, safety, healthcare, and the opportunity to dream of a brighter future. The children’s globe reminds us that caring for vulnerable children is a shared responsibility that crosses borders, languages, and cultures.

Jesus taught that no act of kindness is too small, and we believe that the compassion shown by these young pupils will have a lasting impact. Their gift will help us continue to provide practical support and hope to children who need it most.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Burchetts Green Infant School, the PTA, the staff, parents, and especially the children who gave so generously. Your creativity and kindness have not only raised valuable funds but have also helped build a connection between young people in the UK and children facing difficult circumstances in Central America.

Perhaps the greatest lesson from World Culture Day is this: when children learn to care for others, they begin to understand that they can change the world.

And sometimes, changing the world starts with a handful of coins and a globe drawn on a playground.

Thank you, Burchetts Green Infant School, for helping Street Kids Direct reach children who need hope, opportunity, and the chance of a brighter future.
